April Showers Check Presentation

This morning we celebrated the generosity of our anonymous donor who covered all the cat and kitten adoption fees during the month of April. After falling in love with the handsome Mr. Bigglesworth, but unable to bring him home, this anonymous donor wanted to do something that would help cats like Mr. Biggs find their forever home. Because of his generosity, we adopted out 103 cats and kittens during this April Showers of Love adoption special.

Annina Donaldson, who is a friend of the donor read a statement at the ceremony on his behalf: “Growing up with a mother that taught me to care about the welfare of animals and to always try to make a positive difference in life brought me to the point of considering being involved and donating to an animal based non-profit. With her passing last year and in an attempt to honor her, I finally made the leap to help my community and the animals that can’t care for themselves in it.

“When deciding which Pinellas based animal non-profit to assist, I found that Friends of Strays aligned with my wishes more than others. As the only no-kill shelter that accepts stray animals off the streets, this wonderful organization truly is a one-of-a-kind in the area.

“With that said, it is my greatest pleasure to give this donation to a shining light in our community – Friends of Strays Animal Shelter. And I implore anybody that really wants to make a difference locally in animal welfare to consider doing the same now and in the future.”

This gift changed the lives of 103 previously stray and homeless cats as well as the nearly 100 families who adopted them. Donaldson presented the check to Friends of Strays in the amount of $7,250 on behalf of the donor. Mr. Bigglesworth and his adopter happily joined us for this celebratory moment.

We are so grateful to our anonymous donor for his support. While not everyone can support the work we do to this level, we do want to encourage our friends to get involved.

Volunteer, educate your community, or join our FOS Rescue Crew by giving a small monthly donation. This monthly donation helps us continue to provide the medical and daily care to the hundreds of cats and dogs who find themselves in our shelter every year.
